What Is Blepharitis?

What is blepharitis?

Blepharitis is inflammation or an infection of the eyelids. It can happen occasionally or be a chronic condition and can affect both children and adults. It is a benign condition that may lead to irritating symptoms, such as reddening, dry eyes, itchiness or stinging.

Treatment entails good hygiene and the use of artificial tears, and it may be necessary to prescribe anti-inflammatory medication or antibiotics.

Regardless of the treatment, diagnosis and monitoring by an ophthalmologist is essential.

The medical team at the INOF Eye Research and Surgery Centre includes expert specialists in the treatment of all ocular pathologies.
