{"id":2010,"date":"2017-10-23T11:07:55","date_gmt":"2017-10-23T11:07:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/inof.es\/que-es-un-ojo-vago\/"},"modified":"2022-05-22T19:01:40","modified_gmt":"2022-05-22T19:01:40","slug":"what-is-a-lazy-eye","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/inof.es\/en\/what-is-a-lazy-eye\/","title":{"rendered":"What is a lazy eye?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\">[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<span class=\"tlid-translation translation\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"\" title=\"\">Lazy eye or <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inof.es\/en\/amblyopia\/\">amblyopia<\/a><\/strong> is the partial loss of vision in one of the eyes.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">That is, one has normal vision and the other is below 100%, to a variable degree.<\/span> <span class=\"\" title=\"\">Although it is not frequent, it can also affect both eyes.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It is caused by a malfunction in the development process in the brain&#8217;s visual system corresponding to the abnormal eye.<\/p>\n<p>Lazy eye can be caused by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/inof.es\/en\/strabismus-in-children-and-adults\/\">strabismus<\/a><\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/inof.es\/en\/diagnosis-and-treatment-of-cataracts\/#1508256790280-6cca5488-e3c61384-5c88\"><strong>congenital cataracts<\/strong><\/a> or a marked difference in dioptres between one eye and the other.
