She specialised in Ophthalmology at the Hospital Cl\u00ednic in Barcelona, and completed her doctorate at the University of Barcelona in 1992. The subject of her doctoral thesis was \u00ab<em>Divergent Strabismus Surgery\u00bb<\/em>, for which she was awarded an outstanding <em>cum laude<\/em>.
